The twin-screw vessel began its maiden voyage on 13 April 1928. She was seized in Brazil in 1941 and transferred to United States service as a troopship named "Monticello." She returned to Italian Line service in 1949 on the South American route. In 1960 she did a single sailing under the Lloyd Triestino banner. In 1961 she was scrapped.
